I’ve had a smartphone from Republic Wireless for 2 or 3 years. Unlimited minutes/texts/data, no contract. My bills are less than $15 dollars a month.
You have to buy a phone from them directly (or perhaps off eBay), but the price is reasonable.
Consumer Reports recently gave them a Best Buy rating. They run on the Sprint network, but are hinting that they may follow Google’s lead and add connectivity to T-Mobile’s network also.
